Illustration Project

For this project I chose to focus on a trip I took to California my senior year in high school. This trip was very life-changing for me for many reasons. I was able to go to Anaheim, California for ten days, completely free because I qualified in an event for FBLA. I won first place at State, thus moving on to the national competition. I competed against 100 other people (two from each state) and received 8th place in the nation. I had proved to myself that anything was possible. I had done something that I never in a million years I imagined I would. I was just thankful that I qualified and was able to attend the national conference. I never dreamed I would actually place in the top ten. In addition, I got to see all of the sights, Disneyland, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Boulevard, Beverly Hills, Catalina Island, and so much more. My life was changed in California and I cannot wait to be there again someday.

I used water colors on bristol board, and I inked around the letters and objects throughout the design. I had never used watercolors before, and it was an interesting experience. It was a lot of work and proved to be challenging in the small areas of the design, but I love it and I think all the colors turned out really great. It clearly depicts my trip through its bright colors and the happiness that it displays. I will treasure my memories of that trip and this design forever.

Typography Assignment

For this hand lettering assignment I chose to make all the letters lowercase except for the letters POP, because I think that when typography is used effectively it can really make designs "pop" so to speak. This assignment was challenging for me, and I really wanted to use the computer to better see how the letters related to one another, but with a little encouragement from Mrs. Watson I decided that I could in fact see the relationships between the letters on my own and I am very satisfied with the way it turned out.

Alternative Typography

Envelope, Letterhead, and Business Card

After a lot of experimenting and trying different layouts and colors I came to my final design. I think it balances well with my logo and the company name. Each document has similarities but is also unique in it's own way.

Logo Assignment

This is the finished inked image of my logo for my photography business. I came to this design after over 50 different sketches. I think it is simplistic and elegant and accomplishes what I want my business to convey.

My Third Portrait Photography Assignment

For my third Portrait Photography assignment we had to create an image using the new LED studio lights that we got. We had to experiment with different angles of the light, and how it effected the shape of the face.

Realistic/Symbol Assignment

For our second project in Intro to Graphic Design and Illustration we created a realistic pencil sketch of a three-dimensional object and then from that created an inked logo of the same object.

This project was challenging for me because I have never taken a drawing class, but I feel that I learned a lot about drawing and about myself, creating this artwork. Overall, I am very happy with the way it turned out.
